Stan has appraised thousands of agricultural properties over the course of his three decade+ career, including almond, pistachio and walnut orchards; large, integrated dairy and livestock operations; wineries and vineyards; processing, packing and storage facilities; tree fruit and citrus; and all types of open land throughout California, as well as Oregon, Nevada and Arizona.  Over the course of his career, Stan has had the unique opportunity to value agricultural properties throughout some of the most historic land development periods in California, including the explosive development of the Northern and Central Coastal winery regions, the rapid expansion of the nut industry, the recent contraction of the California dairy industry, and the continued trend of urban growth into prime agricultural land. With the dairy sector currently ranking as the largest economic value producer in California, C-X has devoted considerable efforts toward developing a strong dairy and livestock appraisal practice, and Stan is considered one of the foremost experts in the valuation of dairy and livestock operations in the state.

Stan is continuously sought after for public speaking events across the state, most notably on topics such as changing land values, commodity planting and pricing trends, and the ongoing effects of California's State Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) legislation. Stan has spearheaded C-X's delve into SGMA's impact on California land values, utilizing the company’s growing database to track the divergence of single water source land values vs. those with multiple sources, drilling down to region, water district and individual basins. Stan and the team keep up-to-date on purchases for water rights/credits and market-recognized discounts or premiums in certain water areas.

Stan has performed appraisals for a vast array of clients, including nearly all providers of agricultural financing, publicly and privately-held corporations, complex partnerships and family-owned operations, major investors (including insurance companies, pension funds and REITs), as well as federal, state and local governmental entities. He is highly experienced in performing appraisals for financing purposes, purchase and sale transactions, purchase price allocation, estate and tax planning, foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings, marriage and partnership dissolution, discounted minority interest valuation, American Viticultural Area (AVA) valuations, conservation easements, eminent domain, and much more.

In addition to appraisal and consulting services, Stan has been involved with litigation and arbitration support, and served as an expert witness.  He is a frequent speaker at industry events and continues to be published in various industry reports and publications.  Stan is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and is certified by the state of California as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser.
