Ryan Martin
Certified General Real Estate Appraiser
From local family farms held for generations to large, investment-grade farming operations, Ryan has appraised a growing variety of agricultural property types throughout California. Coming from an almond farming family, Ryan is especially skilled in the valuation of permanent planting developments, including nut crops, citrus and other tree fruit, and all grape types. Related valuation scenarios he has performed include “As Proposed” appraisals for future plantings with annual, “stepped up” values to maturity, as well as Discounted Cash Flow analyses for immature developments.
With water being the "hot topic" in the agricultural marketplace, Ryan continues to stay on top of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and it's ongoing impact on California land values. This includes tracking single vs dual water source property values, comparing SGMA ratings basin by basin, and much more. These trends are highly important across the state, but most importantly, for permanent planting ground. In addition to permanent plantings, Ryan’s recent appraisal assignments also include vertically-integrated dairy facilities, cold storage facilities and packinghouses, wineries, food and nut processing facilities, and open cropland. He is highly skilled in developing fully USPAP, FIRREA, Farmer Mac, and IRS-compliant appraisals used for a variety of intended uses, such as collateral evaluation, refinance, asset portfolio monitoring, sales price establishment, marriage or partnership dissolution, estate planning, and more. He also has extensive experience with leased fee and leasehold position valuations. Ryan is originally from the city of Brentwood in Northern California, in an area dominated by field crop production known for its sweet corn. His family currently farms almonds and raises beef cattle in Madera, California where he helps with the daily duties of the farm. Ryan is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento. |
