Laura brings with her years of experience growing up on a large estate winery and cattle ranch in Santa Barbara County, and has been involved in many aspects of agriculture from a young age. She is now involved in the appraisal of a wide variety of ag properties, ranging from simple open land acreage to more complex, multi-commodity properties with mixed water situations. She has devoted significant time to the study of water supply, including research on water districts, pumped groundwater, riparian rights and water stock, with particular emphasis on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and its ongoing impact on California agriculture. In her property valuations, Laura carefully selects comps with these water complexities in mind as SGMA and its value implications continue to evolve.
Laura has performed appraisals for a large variety of clients, including all types of lending agencies; governmental entities; corporate, partnership and family-owned operations; and major investors including insurance companies, pension funds and REITSs. She is highly experienced in performing fully FIRREA and USPAP-compliant appraisals. She provides skilled valuations for various purposes, including financing, purchase and sale transactions; estate planning and tax settlement; portfolio management and much more. |
