Mr. Benjamin K. Slaughter, has been in the real estate appraisal and consulting business in Fresno for over seven years. He is currently associated with Correia - Xavier, Incorporated, an independent appraisal firm specializing in the appraisal of agricultural properties.  Mr. Slaughter holds the professional designation of Accredited Rural Appraiser, ARA, the highest appraisal designation of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA).  Mr. Slaughter is certified by the state of California as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, Certificate Number AG033069, with an expiration date of February 5, 2010.  Mr. Slaughter is also certified by the state of Oregon as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, Certificate Number AG000880, with an expiration date of March 2009.

Appraisal Experience ____________________________________________________________________  

Properties appraised include all types of agricultural properties, including some of the largest and most complex properties in California and Oregon.  Appraisal assignments completed include extensive vineyards, wineries, orchards, and related facilities.  Mr. Slaughter also has in excess of five years experience in the appraising of conservation easements.

Mr. Slaughter has also developed and instructed a one day course entitled “Efficient Use of MSWord & Excel in Evaluating Property Economics.”

Mr. Slaughter has developed and worked with geographic information systems (GIS) in analyzing property economics. This includes the developing shapefiles of all the major American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) in California and Oregon.  He is responsible for developing the GIS processes currently in use by Correia-Xavier, Inc., and is collaborating with major universities in studies of spatial and economic characteristics of wine grape vineyards that will be published in the near future.
